MOUNTAIN Honeybush tea is an indigenous South African herbal tea with a very pleasant flavour and many health benefits.

For centuries native South Africans have gathered it in the wild and used it in cooking and for health purposes. It contains little, if any, caffeine, and has a much lower tannin content than common, oriental tea.

It is often referred to as "hungry tea" by older people as it stimulates the appetite. Today the tea is still gathered from the wild and only recently have certain farmers begun experimenting with small commercial plantings.

MOUNTAIN Honeybush is 100% organically grown. It is grown without the use of any chemical fertilizers and is totally free of pesticides and herbicides. No preservatives or colorants are added, making the tea completely natural and pure.

Apart from being an appetite stimulant, the tea is said to relieve colic in babies, ease problems with a spastic colon, and with water retention. If used externally as a facial rinse it helps with skin disorders. It contains anti-oxidants which play an important role in slowing down the ageing process.

MOUNTAIN Honeybush is, to all intents and purposes, caffeine free. It contains only 0.01% compared with approximately 3.3% in oriental teas. It is very low in tannin containing only 0.45% compared with anything between 15% and 30% in oriental teas.

MOUNTAIN Honeybush is a great drink for babies and lactating mothers, sports-men and -women, the health- conscious, and indeed anyone who enjoys a satisfying cup of tea. It is also a soothing bedtime drink.
